"Where They Ought To Be"

An antique English slipper box of stamped brass. Along the top, an ornate frame surrounding the wise words "Where they ought to be."

I love this part of the seller's description: "In very good vintage condition, polished where you would expect an English piece to be polished." (Do the English polish differently? Or does that mean in the servants' quarters? lol)

Keep It Under Your Hat

Someone took momma's advice seriously when they made this vintage coin purse that looks like a hat. Of course, you can also keep your secrets in it -- and trade them for the pennies for your thoughts.

Swish-Swish, You Can Hear The Approach

Corduroy Capri pants with atomic cuff-stuff? Hmmm... What a mess of mixed seasons. But at least you won't hear the frictional swish if you wear the pedal pushers bike riding.

Glad-iola

Incredible vintage Juli Lynne Charlot circle skirt, black with a spray of dramatic red Gladiolas. Gladiolas are one of my favorite flowers *sigh*

The Delicate Bodice Of Rita Moreno

I'm talking about the dress, sheesh.

Doodle Your Day Away

It's cold. It's Sunday. Both perfect reasons to stay in and doodle. And you can do it every week, if you participate in Doodle Week.

This week the theme is dollies; my Corseted Dolly Loves You THIS Much.

Three Reasons To Add To Your Vanity

Three-piece antique silk & lace vanity set.

If I Had A Mannequin

I'd dress her in the morning,
I'd dress her in the evening,
I'd dress her all over this land.

But she & I would live for the nights I put her in this vintage Peggy Hunt dress.

He Had Me At "Hello"

But lost me at his loafers.

And the watch was like nails on chalkboard.

I can only assume there's a decapitated head in that bag.

Of Wine & Whimsy

Blogging pal K from Oolala! Vintage! sent me a little note asking if I'd mention her sister's contest. Of course I said, "Yes," - who doesn't like contests?!

But don't just hit up Sweet, Mysterious Feast for the free goodies (she's giving away a free pair of white wine glasses by iittala Tapio!), check out the feast of sweet mysteries. I did, and look what I found -- JennyMendes' Etsy shop and this She Didn't Know Where He Ended and She Began!

Glamourous Amorous

Jaynie of Here's Looking Like You, Kid has given me the Glamourous Award, which was created by Blonde Episodes.

The rules for this blogging award:

* post about your award, passing it along to 10 bloggers you love, linking to them in your post

* let them know you awarded them!

So, if your name/blog is on the list, this is what you do.

Since she mentioned both of my blogs, I'm giving the award away to five sites at each blog. Chopped the list in half, I did.

In no particular order, I give the Glamourous Award to:

1. iKonic Vintage
2. Voyages en Rose
3. Charlene Lanzel
4. Shoe Smitten
5. Dandelion Vintage

Many thanks to Jaynie!

PS If you've already received the award, feel free to leave a comment suggesting someone else :)

Let's Go Dutch

Usually when I spy vintage Dutch things, they are of the cutesy variety. But not this big bad deco Dutch boy. He's man enough to put a finger in my dike.
