Fashions of 1934

Fashions of 1934 (Warner Brothers, 1934), half sheet movie poster at Heritage Auctions:
This stunning half sheet is a sight to behold and will add extra sparkle to any collection. Fashions of 1934 is a charming musical bubbling over with shimmying Busby Berkeley showgirls, and stars William Powell as Sherwood Nash, a swindler who moves to Paris to work his cons in the fashion racket. Bette Davis is both his accomplice and love interest, Lynn. As lavish as production itself, this gorgeous art deco poster dazzles. It has not been folded and only minor touch up was needed to address a tear and chip in the top border, a paper lift in the bottom right image area, and there is a bottom left corner bend. Fine/Very Fine on Paper.

Agent Provocateur Home Decor Launch: Hit & Promotional Miss

Today, September 26th 2011, Agent Provocateur launches their Home Collection.

The debut of somewhat mix and match collections are Ruffle (in oyster pink silk -- my favorite -- and berry), Lace Print in fuscia; Genuisa (in baby pink and black and in fuscia); Leopard in midnight blue; Soiree (cashmere and soft suede) and Glossy in black (silk). However, the promo video promises the classic (and perhaps dated, if not cliche) rolling about in silk (raspberry, if not red satin) sheets -- with a mirrored headboard, no less.

Pretty & Practical Personalized Plate Sale

Personalized plates are now just $15! They say they are for kids, to be personalized with your child's name on it, but I can think of so many other ideas... A gift for coworkers (who doesn't want need a real plate at the office as opposed to the paper ones? Plus, what a great way to give more than cake on birthdays!), kids going off to college (territory is important!), recently divorced women can now enjoy personalized dishware (again, territory is important!) and enjoy eating alone, finicky husbands who whine about eating they vegetables can have a smaller plate (why not point ouy your not-so-tiny food critic?) *wink* Even at the smaller size, these dishwasher-safe melamine plates would be great for snacks and finger foods.  Cute as all heck!

This Is Why I Don't Take The Photos

If someone had described this photo to me, the floral bedding or background with the jewelry, the corset, and all the rest of it, I would have thought it sounded hideous -- but it's gorgeous!

Get A Vintage Inspired Office (Or Home) And Save!

Remember when I showed you those yummy retro-fitted radios? Well, they -- and other cool antique and vintage re-dos -- are back at Gilt!

In the vintage office decor sale, there are more radios by 3ryan.
After acquiring an old radio (made anywhere between 1920 and 1970), this Brooklyn-based company takes it apart, cleans it, refinishes it, and then rewires the entire thing with brand-new components. Finally, they test it out to ensure the sound is good, and that it will last another lifetime. These radios may be refinished, rewired, and adapted to play your MP3s, but their retro aesthetic remains intact: They come in colors like moss, aqua, and salmon, and they’ve still got their old-school knobs, clocks, dials, and vents. Even the original fonts for brands like Zephyr, Zenith, and Silvertone have been left untouched. Refurbished retro radios from RCA, Silvertone, and Zephyr.

Also included in this limited time sale offering are works by Sarreid, such as the Rebound Leather Books shown below:

Founded in 1967 in Spain, Sarreid began as an antique accessory dealer, but quickly began adding in their own design ideas. Today, the company, based in North Carolina, commissions craftspeople worldwide to create handmade home accents and bench-made occasional furniture, which it sells to fine furniture stores and design galleries worldwide. The brand’s focus is on eight primary collections, including Encore IHF (Italian-influenced furniture crafted in Vietnam) and Madison Club (traditional chairs made of fine leather and wood).

And then too there are these -- my favorites in the collection: Travail Une Office Organizers by Aidan Gray.

Inspired from an antique well pulley, these office organizers hold it all. Made of recycled sheet metal and plated zinc with a weathered surface, they will hold pens, pencils, standard sized magazines and envelopes plus more. Our metal products are intended to look like vintage found objects and will continue to rust over time. Expect great variations in finish. Includes one expandable wall bracket. Envelope size opening is 4.5"x2". Magazine opening is 12"x2". Pencil opening is 2"x2".
Remember, all sale events at Gilt are set for a limited time, with limited quantities -- so if you want to save up to 30% or more, act quickly!
